A pity; a large dent after a collision with a sea buoy in the steel hull of the Urania. Fortunately, the damage was limited to just the hull, and the interior remained intact. The one-off design sailing yacht by De Vries-Lentsch is in good hands with us for repair.
First, the sailing yacht was completely dismantled and cleared of corrosion. Then, the dent in the steel hull was cut out, and a new steel plate was seamlessly welded in. This is clearly visible in the photos.
The teak bulwarks were also removed and will be rebuilt with iroko wood. This is a common alternative to teak wood as it is more readily available and therefore often less expensive.
Finally, the finishing touch; the exterior will be repainted, and all the lacquer work on the superstructure will be redone. The motor yacht will roll out of the shipyard as new, ready to make the journey to the Lofoten… without a single trace visible of the unfortunate collision.
