From the outside, the sailing yacht looks ready for departure, but as soon as you step inside, you see the bare aluminum framework. In the coming months, we will be installing the complete interior in this aluminum Koopmans 40, entirely according to the client’s wishes. For example, the owners are expecting a baby, and a cot will be built in the captain’s cabin; exactly according to their wishes.
Melamine insulation with Swietenia wood
We will start at the beginning, which is the installation of the insulation. As with many of the Hutting and refit sailing yachts, we like to use melamine as insulation material. This lightweight material absorbs sound, is very pleasant, and also fire-retardant. The interior will be fully custom-built according to the client’s wishes. They have chosen a classic style, giving the interior a combination of lacquered Swietenia wood with a white slatted ceiling.
Cozy salon with extra spacious galley
To create a stylish yet calm design, the salon will be built symmetrically. Various components, such as the navigation table and the galley, are built outside the yacht in our carpentry. This is much more efficient because, in the meantime, the installation location can be prepared. The furniture components will then be installed as ready-made, custom-fit pieces. For instance, the galley countertop has been made extra large for more space and comfort while cooking, and given the plans to live on board for an extended period, many extra smart storage spaces will be built in.
Double guest berth in the aft
A spacious guest accommodation will be built behind the galley. In the previous layout, more space was devoted to storage and technical areas instead of sleeping comfort; this will be reversed in the new layout. A comfortable wet room will be built on the starboard side.
A spacious captain’s cabin with baby berth
Our team has never built a cot before… a first! In the forward cabin, a spacious double bed will be built with an adjoining area for the cot; the cot. In addition to a sink unit in the cabin, many extra storage spaces will also be built here; everything you need as a young family on board.
